P.F.'s Clinical Case
From 1986 to 1996 - She had multiple resections (with or without radiation therapy) for recurrent synoviosarcoma at various sites throughout the left leg
August 1997 - Isolated Limb Perfusion +TNF-alpha and Melphalan. Massive necrosis > 98%
May 1998 - Second Isolated Limb Perfusion +TNF-alpha and Melphalan. Massive necrosis. MRI-left leg:Necrosis + some regression of the local recurrences.
July 1998 - Resection of the residual tumors which were fixed to the femur. Proposed post-treatmen: adequate radiation therapy.
April 1999 - Recurrence in the Pelvic area.. Proposed tretament: 4 cycles of Ifosfamide and Doxorubicin. The regression was spectacular, 60% of necrosis. Proposed post-treatment: radiotherapy.
December 1999 - Amputation of the left leg.
September 2000- Retroperitoneal Sarcoma. Proposed treatment: onecycle of Ifosfamide.
November 2000- Ecteinascidin (ET-743) clincal trial. It stabilizes the disease for three months, she's happy!
February 2001- She's taking the Vepesid (also called Etoposide or Vp-16).
March 2001- She is appraising the possibility to also take these drugs: TNP-470(local perfusion) and TNF via systemic. Immunotherapy. Hyperthermia. Low dose of Chemotherapy.
After a fifteen year battle with synovial sarcoma, Patrizia F. died on Monday, April 23, 2001
